About

Come, worship God in a peaceful setting. Go out to serve God’s word.

Trinity Presbyterian of Starkville welcomes into membership all who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We also invite those who are still seeking and questioning or who wish to maintain their membership in another church to associate with our congregation as Friends of Trinity. Our Mission Statement

Trinity is a community of believers and seekers, dedicated to continuing Christ’s work here on earth. We strive to create an open and accepting environment, inviting all to join our pilgrim journey. This is a “come as you are” church – with no masks required or desired. Honest inquiry is honored; variations in belief and differences in spiritual development are acknowledged and valued, not judged.

Trinity members (and Friends) try to grow in their Christian faith, living out in our daily lives the Presbyterian ideal of “Reformed and always reforming.” The care of our church family, as well as involvement in social action ministries in the community and beyond, is a given. We take seriously Jesus’ assurance, “What you do for the least of these in my name, you do for me.”

Who We Are

Trinity Presbyterian of Starkville is a member of the St. Andrew Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church, USA and is in the Synod of the Living Waters. Trinity has approximately 150 members and friends, with average Sunday worship attendance of 72.

Trinity is grounded in acceptance of people as they are. Our members and friends are committed to extending that generosity within and outside our church. We believe this atmosphere of acceptance translates directly into a felt sense of the Holy Spirit, which is often reported by visitors and new members. As a church with many university members, our congregation enjoys examination of ideas, inquiry, and creativity, and we are often willing to try new things. Members are socially, politically, and environmentally aware and involved, and they are generally independent in thought and in action. The church has a good supply of leaders, including three retired ministers, but also has people who are happy to follow. Women occupy many of the leadership positions at Trinity.

Where We Are

Trinity Presbyterian Church is approximately 0.5 mile west of Oktibbeha County Hospital at 607 Hospital Road in Starkville, MS. Trinity’s entrance is marked by a large bronze cross on the south side of Hospital road. The church is nestled in the woods, set back from the road.

History

Trinity Presbyterian Church of Starkville was founded in 1973 by a group of believers dedicated to Christian ideals. Trinity’s core values of being open, welcoming, and understanding of all were evidenced by the church’s charter members. Soon after the church was chartered the membership constructed the sanctuary building off of Hospital Road in downtown Starkville. Several years later the fellowship hall was added to provide more Sunday School meeting rooms, office space, and a social gathering place. The church buildings are in a natural setting among the trees, expressing the members’ love of nature.
